This Bahn Mi Burger combines the delicious flavors of traditional Vietnamese Bahn Mi with a juicy, flavorful pork patty. It’s a fusion of savory, tangy, and spicy flavors in every bite!
Ingredients:
Pickled Veggies:
- ½ cup chopped cucumber (seeded if large)
- ¼ cup thinly sliced green onion
- ¼ cup chopped carrot
- ½ cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons mirin (Japanese rice wine)
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
Pork Patties:
- 2 pounds ground pork
- 2 tablespoons tamari sauce
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon mirin (Japanese rice wine)
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce
For Serving:
- 6 sesame seed hamburger buns
Steps:
- Prepare the Pickled Veggies:
- In a medium bowl, combine the chopped cucumber, green onion, and chopped carrot.
- In a small saucepan, heat the rice vinegar, mirin, and sugar over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Pour the vinegar mixture over the vegetables and toss to combine. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes to pickle, stirring occasionally. For best results, refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
- Make the Pork Patties:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, tamari sauce, sesame oil, mirin, grated ginger, chili garlic sauce, and fish sauce. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Form the mixture into 6 equal-sized patties.
- Cook the Patties:
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the pork patties for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Toast the Buns:
- While the patties are cooking, slice the sesame seed hamburger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster.
- Assemble the Burger:
- Once the patties are cooked, place each patty on the bottom half of a toasted bun.
- Top each patty with a generous portion of the pickled veggie mixture.
- Close the burger with the top half of the bun.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Serve your Bahn Mi Burgers hot, with a side of crispy fries or a refreshing salad. Enjoy the combination of savory, tangy, and spicy flavors in every bite!
These Bahn Mi Burgers are a fresh twist on the classic Vietnamese sandwich, with tender, flavorful pork patties complemented by tangy, pickled veggies. They’re sure to be a crowd-pleaser!
